What a week it's been.

Here's what landed in RecHound this week, and a first look at what's coming next.

Submit, Certify and Reject several workpapers at once

Tick the accounts you want on the reconciliation summary and the action buttons appear in the toolbar, each with a count. Preparers can submit. Reviewers can certify or reject. Certified accounts can be revoked by a reviewer.

Approval controls haven't changed. Each workpaper is checked on its own, so you can only move the ones where you're the preparer or the reviewer. If anything can't be updated, you get a list of each account and the reason, and those accounts stay selected so you can sort them out straight away.

Status changes are easier to see too. Step icons pulse when a workpaper moves stage, and in My Tasks a finished row fades out and the rows below slide up, instead of just disappearing.

Pull back a workpaper you've already submitted

Preparers can now pull back a workpaper they've already submitted. Spot a mistake after you hit submit and you can fix it without waiting for the reviewer to reject it.

More flexible prepayment journals

Tick the prepayment schedules you want and a Post to Xero button appears in the section header. It opens the journal with just those schedules' entries for the period, so you can post some schedules now and leave the rest for later. It works the same way for revenue recognition.

A visual overhaul of the support page

The support page used to be one long list. Now it has a section for each type of support, with the amounts sitting beside the descriptions so it scans quickly.

  • Clear support sections. Transaction support, manual support, and prepayments and accruals each get their own section. Each can be exported, and long lists collapse after 10 items.
  • Prepayments as a table. Period progress at a glance, like 2/3 periods, with a green tick once a schedule is fully amortised, plus remaining balance and a variance badge that stands out.
  • One click to reconcile. When a schedule's transactions net to zero, a green tick reconciles them and clears them from the transaction listing in one step.

Drag the slider to compare the old and new support page.

Roadmap

Here's what's coming next.

Journals + — Coming soon

Create and post multi-entity journals and large journals with thousands of lines, well past Xero's 300-line limit. Save templates for the journals you post often, create journal vouchers to run scenario analysis on your balance sheet and P&L, and switch on an optional approvals workflow so journals are signed off before they reach Xero.

Connect your AI assistant — Coming soon

Connect AI assistants like Claude to your RecHound data with a personal API key. Ask it to review your month end, find the accounts that don't reconcile, or check your support files against the amounts they back up. The connection will release as read-only, so it won't change anything in RecHound or Xero.

Workpaper Notes & To-Dos — Medium

Add notes and tasks directly to workpapers, with recurring due dates and drag-to-reorder.

Xero Reports Viewer — Low

View and export Aged Payables and Receivables reports from directly within RecHound.

Auto-Certify — Low

Automatically certify unchanged account balances across periods. For accounts where nothing moves, you shouldn't have to lift a finger.

From our April upcoming features list, these are now live:

  • ✓ Prepayment Auto-Matching
  • ✓ Transaction Auto-Matching
  • ✓ Visual Redesign
  • ✓ Manual Journal Posting (read more)
  • ✓ Accruals Register (read more)

If something doesn't work the way you expect, reply to the newsletter or email info@rechound.com. I read every one.
